Two forthcoming changes in the Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW) Program. Firstly, the TFW Program will be returning to the standard 6-month Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) validity period for new LMIA applications for all employers. Applications received up to September 30 will be granted a 9-month validity period. After this date, the standard 6-month LMIA validity period will apply. Furthermore, we would like to advise you that the option to submit Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) by email will eventually be disabled for fee-paying streams of the Program, and that Service Canada strongly recommends the use of LMIA Online as the preferred method to submit LMIAs. In 2019, Service Canada launched LMIA Online in an effort to modernize the TFW Program. Since the launch, feedback received from employers and third parties has been critical in enhancing the online platform.
